How It Works

Gov Petitions helps campaigners move from concern to action with a straightforward petition workflow.

1. Start a petition

Create a clear title, explain the issue, describe the action you want taken, and identify who has the power to respond.

2. Review and publish

Petitions may be checked for clarity, safety, and compliance with our rules before or after publication. We may request edits or remove content that breaches our terms.

3. Gather support

Supporters can sign and share petitions. We use verification and anti-abuse controls to help keep counts meaningful and reduce fake or duplicated activity.

4. Build momentum

Campaign organisers can use updates, sharing tools, and public signature counts to keep supporters informed and encourage wider participation.

5. Seek a response

As petitions grow, organisers can use the public record of support to approach councils, MPs, departments, regulators, or other decision-makers.

Platform rules

Users must not publish unlawful, hateful, misleading, or abusive content, and must not manipulate signatures or ad engagement. For the full rules, read our Terms & Conditions.
